Just Join In, in Fylde has been awarded a grant of £30,000 over three years by BBC Children in Need. This grant will fund AFC Fylde Community Foundation to deliver a project that will specifically work with young people aged between 6 – 18 years who are living with a disability and help make a difference to the lives of children and young people facing disadvantage right here in Fylde.
Launching Friday 2nd July, Just Join In project will see the Foundation deliver two sessions per week for young people aged 6-18 years. The sessions will take place on a Friday evening between 5:30pm and 7:30pm located at Fylde Sports and Education Centre, Wesham. Through the sessions, the organisation aims to work towards helping each child realise his or her potential through pan-football and multi-sport activities.
With the support of BBC Children In Need, the Foundation will be able to continue reaching out to the young people in Fylde by funding a three year project that will provide young people with disabilities the opportunity to take part in weekly sports activities to improve their physical and emotional health, as well as create and maintain positive relationship with their peers and other adults.
Mick Whittle, Community Development Manager at the Foundation said; “We could not reach out to the young people in Fylde without the support of BBC Children In Need. This grant will go on to change the lives of so many young people and give them the support they need”
