Foundation celebrate summer of success with return of Activity Camps!
After months of planning, risk assessments and preparation, AFC Fylde Community Foundation have marked the welcome return of their hugely popular Summer Activity Camps.
Supported by the Frank Whittle Partnership Group, the Community Foundation have been delivering the camps for several years at both Kirkham St Michael’s Primary School and BActive Warton.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic meant initial concerns as to whether the charitable organisation would be forced to cancel them. Determined not to disappoint dozens of local youngsters, the team spent weeks carefully planning, working with local organisations, and initiating special measures. Their hard work paid off and the Foundation have been able to successfully deliver the activity camps throughout the school holidays.
The Foundation understand the importance of providing safe, fun, and memorable environments for local children, especially as more and more people return to work. Whilst the camps needed to run at a lower capacity than normal and have certain measures in place, the youngsters hardly noticed the difference. They have enabled children to enjoy a taste of freedom once again and to communicate and socialise with others after a difficult lockdown period.
AFC Fylde Community Foundation Activity Camp Coach, Dan Crofts is proud of what his organisation has been able to achieve. He said: “Running our Summer Activity Camps was something we were all hoping would be possible. After lots of time spent planning and preparing our efforts paid off. We were pleased to welcome back children from across the Fylde Coast to enjoy a summer of fun and games in a safe, carefully controlled environment.
“I’m delighted the camps were such a great success. We now look forward to the children returning to schools and classrooms and delivering our physical activity sessions in their educational setting.”
