AFC Fylde Community Foundation were recently able to compete in their first competitive fixtures as part of the Football Development Centre programme.
Competing in multiple fixtures against the centre’s from Wigan Athletic Community Trust, the Foundation’s young players were able to put their new skills to the test, after taking part in weeks of training as part of the Development Centre programme. Whilst the core aim of the programme is the training sessions, the charitable arm of AFC Fylde are proud to now offer the fixtures as an addition, giving children a notable way of monitoring their progress.
Development Centre Lead at the Foundation, Dan Crofts was delighted the Foundation were able to run their first competitive fixtures and said “ Our Development Centre has been running successfully for several years now, we have always looked at a way we can incorporate competitive fixtures for the children at the end of their training blocks and to now start that, is a great achievement for the organisation. The children were able to showcase their ability against Wigan Athletic’s Centre’s and it was a great, memorable day for all.”
