Foundation Connect the Community with Innovative New Programme!
Working in partnership with The National League Trust and The Fylde Community Safety Partnership, AFC Fylde Community Foundation have successfully delivered the first 12 months of the new and unique ‘Community Connector’ programme.
The ‘Community Connector’ programme reaches out to different members of the community, providing hundreds of residents with life changing positive interventions.
By working with a variety of local referral partners, the highly trained delivery team at the Foundation has been able to support young people aged between 12-24, engaging with them through positive different strands including:
Community Outreach – Offering local children venues to take part in free community sports which they may not otherwise get the opportunity to do.
Youth Clubs – Hosting a variety of local youth clubs throughout the community, offering boys and girls a safe place to spend their down time from school.
Youth Referral Programme – Working closely with young people who are facing significant disadvantage within their lives and providing positive, behaviour change interventions to help them deal with turbulent lifestyles.
Individuals taking part in this programme were also given the opportunity to undertake accredited peer-to-peer training which is set up to support them in achieving their desired careers.
Foundation Director Tom Hutton is proud of the success the programme has seen. He said: “The Community Connector programme has been a fantastic success within Fylde. Through the invaluable support from the National League Trust we have been able to make a real difference to peoples’ lives and offer a variety of programmes which suit various needs. I’m extremely thankful for the support and I’m delighted at the success this programme has seen!”
