Foundation partners experience first-hand the power of working together!
Partnership work is more than just sharing ideas. A successful alliance between AFC Fylde Community Foundation and Kirkham-based business Kepak Foods, is helping to change the lives of those living with a disability.
Staff from the family-owned global food company recently paid a visit to see for themselves the positive impact the joint initiative is having on people in the local community.
They attended Fylde Sports and Education Centre at Mill Farm and experienced first-hand the weekly sports sessions usually provided for participants from Pear Tree Specialist Sixth Form and Fylde Day Services Domiciliary Centre.
Now in its second term, the project – which is delivered free of charge by the experienced Foundation team – is reaping impressive results. All those taking part in the sessions are encouraged and supported to become more active and lead a healthier lifestyle in a structured, confidence-building environment.
It is the generous support of Kepak Foods which is behind the continued success of the ground-breaking programme.
Rebecca Simpkin, assistant brand manager at Kepak Foods is delighted with the success of the sessions and said “It was wonderful to come down to AFC Fylde Community Foundation and get involved in the active session with young adults from Pear Tree School, Kirkham. We had the opportunity to meet some great people and had fun along the way, joining in with all the activities, and witnessing firsthand the benefits the sessions provide for those that attend. It was great to meet the young adults and learn more about them. It makes us proud as a company to support the Foundation and we were really honoured to be invited to take part. We look forward to participating in more of these events in the future, and continuing our partnership with AFC Fylde Community Foundation”.
