Through The Gate

The purpose of the through the gate programme is to work closely with the service user while they are still in custody for a number of weeks prior to their release back into the community.

The Through the Gate programme has been working with 20 individuals through the programme over a 12 month period covering five different prisons.

Our local prisons include Kirkham, Preston, Lancaster Farms, Wymott and Garth.

We carry out a holistic assessment with the offender to identify areas of need, and put together plans around accommodation, finance and benefits, confidence and motivation, in order to allow a smooth transition back into society.

 

 

On the service user’s day of release, we accompany them to their probation induction appointment, and attend any other appointments that they are required to go to upon release, be it drug and alcohol support, benefits, housing etc, in order to encourage positive engagement with our partner agencies.

We have achieved a great success rate of non-reoffending. This has been achieved through intensive support during their custodial sentence and further intensive support on their release from prison. The key to the success is the trust and support we offer and gain from the individuals and how this is transitioned into their progress in the community.
