The AFC Fylde Community Foundation team is looking to recruit a creative and enthusiastic Media and Communications Officer!
We have one position open with full-time OR part-time hours. The selected Media Officer will manage the Foundations social media content and media operations, ensuring the club’s website, all social media channels and the Foundation promotional content is exciting and engaging.

Role Summary:
AFC Fylde Community Foundation is looking to recruit a Media and Communications Officer to promote the work of AFC Fylde Football Club, AFC Fylde Community Foundation and the Foundation’s charity partners.
Guidance and Authority:
The Community Media Officer will report directly to the Foundation Director.
Main Duties:
- Work with the Foundation Director to publicise the work of the Foundation and the Football Club’s support for other good causes using the club’s official media platforms and external media.
- Contribute to the club’s communication strategy to ensure that the work of the Foundation and other good causes are a prominent feature and priority.
- Liaise with the key club staff to organise regular first team player appearances at club community events
- Work with the Foundation Director to create an annual communications and event plan.
- Plan and attend Foundation events to generate digital content
- Maintain and enhance the Foundation’s social media presence, in conjunction with the club’s official social media platforms.
- Film, edit and upload video footage for use within the club and Foundation’s digital platforms.
- Provide content on Foundation and other good cause activities for use in the match day magazine.
- Assist in the production of an annual impact report for the Foundation and when required other written reports including award submissions.
- Keep an accurate record of media coverage achieved by the Foundation and compile a quarterly report on this coverage to the charities Board of Trustees.
- Manage the Foundation’s website updating the content on a regular basis.
- Actively develop relationships with all Foundation stakeholders including partner media departments, the National League Trust, Fylde Borough Council and other local authorities.
- Pro-actively develop relationships with local newspaper groups and media outlets.
- Attend selected AFC Fylde first team home fixtures to promote the work of the Foundation and other Club initiatives on match days.
- Complete documentation for the PFA relating to community player appearances as part of the Foundation’s annual Capability Code of Practice process.
Health and Safety:
- Fully endorse, demonstrate, and carry out the Foundation’s health and safety policy.
- Comply with all group policies and statutory regulations relating to health and safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your workplace and assist if required with the amending of risk assessments periodically.
- Have full knowledge of procedures for evacuation with regards to fire safety.
- Identify and report maintenance requirements or hazards within the workplace and encourage any workforce to do the same to avoid injury.
Safeguarding:
- The Foundation is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to endorse this commitment.
- The employee must act to protect all young people and vulnerable adults that are in their care or attending the group’s premises. The employee must report any misconduct or suspected misconduct to the Foundation Director.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience – Essential Requirements
- GCSE English grade A to C (or equivalent)
- Proven experience of using video, photo and audio equipment to produce creative and innovative content
- Experience of filming with high spec HD camera equipment
- Experience of using a variety of social media platforms to deliver key messages and measurable outcomes
Desirable Requirements
- Educated to a degree standard (or equivalent) in subject related to media/communications
- Experience of working in a sports organisation’s Foundation or equivalent
- Experience of uploading written and visual content via a content management system
Knowledge and Skills – Essential Requirements
- The ability to write accurately and concisely
- The ability to travel independently to and from different club locations and events.
Desirable Requirements
- Up to date knowledge of current affairs
- Understanding of the Fylde community and the importance of the Football Club’s place in it.
Personal Qualities
- Self-confidence and ability to work accurately under pressure
- Ability to use own creative initiative but also work well within different teams and settings
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Strong relationship building skills and the confidence to relate with internal and external partners
