It was a night of celebration on Monday as AFC Fylde Community Foundation’s inspiring work was highly commended in the category of Community Club of the Season – All Other Leagues, at the Armstrong Projects Northwest Football Awards.
The awards took place at Emirates Old Trafford, home of Lancashire County Cricket Club, which brought together the best in the game across the region.
Working alongside AFC Fylde, the Foundation use the power of the badge to serve residents of the Fylde borough to improve health and wellbeing, improve employability and skills and create stronger communities.
Over the last year, the Foundation has had a positive impact on the lives of 6,000 people, delivered over 10,000 sessions across 24 programmes and established key local and national partners, including Fylde Council and the National Lottery Community Fund.
As a Foundation, we are incredibly proud that our support we provide to the community in Fylde has been recognised at a regional level.
It was the first time we have entered the Armstrong Projects Northwest Football Awards, and for the official charity of a Vanarama National League club to be highly commended in the same category as Club Community Organisations from the English Football League and Premier League is testament to our life-changing impact we have on people in the Fylde community daily.
Bolton Wanderers in the Community were the winners of the award, in a category which also included Blackpool FC Community Trust, Burnley FC in the Community, Preston North End Community and Education Trust and Wigan Athletic Community Trust.
Also on the night, the Foundation’s Armed Forces Community Programme, jointly-funded by BAE Systems and Veterans’ Foundation, with support from the Armed Forces Covenant Trust, was recognised through shortlisting for Community Initiative of the Season.
Wesley Partington, Foundation Director at AFC Fylde Community Foundation, said: “It was a proud night for all involved with the Community Foundation, to be highly commended highlights the fantastic work that we do every day for the people of Fylde.
“I am really pleased for our staff to be rewarded with such excellent recognition. Thank you to AFC Fylde, our board of trustees, partners, and sponsors for their ongoing support, which is greatly appreciated.”
AFC Fylde Community Foundation would like to congratulate all the winners at the Armstrong Projects Northwest Football Awards!
