Building Better Opportunities is an employability project supported by Selnet LTD, Funded by European Social Fund and the National Lottery. The project sees trained members of Foundation staff assist those who are economically inactive or unemployed in finding work or access training courses.
The Foundation runs two employability support projects; Changing Futures, which is open to those aged 16 and over, and Age of Opportunity, which is open to those aged over 50. Both projects see the Foundation staff team deliver one-to-one support, personalised to each participant; this may be financial budgeting, CV building, or simply just working on building motivation and confidence.
The project began in 2015 and has seen over 150 participants access the support of the Foundation. Employability and Services manager, Chris McNally, said that “The Foundation works with a wide range of participants, each with their own unique experience; some participants have accessed our services due to finding themselves unemployed after years’ of work, others have never been in employment before and need help in taking the first steps into employment.
“All of the team at the Foundation are very approachable and understanding of each participant’s circumstances; we offer help and support without judgement and can assist you in taking the next steps to beginning your career and are able to signpost you to various partner businesses who are able to offer employment, as well as access to training courses to assist you in gaining the qualifications needed for your career.”
