Heyhouses to represent AFC Fylde Community Foundation at Wembley again

AFC Fylde Community Foundation representatives, Heyhouses Endowed Church of England Primary School, are heading to Wembley for the second year in a row.

The girls won their third National League Trust (NLT) tournament of the academic year, without conceding a goal. After winning all of their group games and the semi-final, they were victorious in the final via an intense penalty shootout.

One trip to Wembley in May of last year wasn't enough for Heyhouses as this year they've made it their mission to defend their status as National Champions of the NLT Cup in the capital of England once again.

Their journey began in December 2024 as they won the Fylde regional NLT tournament, hosted at AKS in Lytham.

As a result of that they headed to Marine, in Liverpool, where they competed, and won, the North West regional NLT Cup.

Then becoming Northern Champions of the NLT Cup for a second year in a row. This run of tournament wins means the girls have now won seven NLT tournaments on the bounce, dating back to November 2023.

They head to Wembley on Sunday 1st June where they will face the Southern Champions as they look to defend yet another trophy.

Dan Monckton, our School Services Manager, has attended nearly all of the tournaments with Heyhouses and he said: "It's been an absolute joy to watch these girls win up and down the country over the last year and a half."

After the trip to York last week, Dan said: "They make all of us immensely proud, they aren't just amazing at football; they are a credit to their parents, the school and the Foundation.

"They are always conducting themselves appropriately and they always have a smile on their face, in fairness, why wouldn't you when you are winning everything?"

"I didn't think it could get any better than winning at Wembley last year but, two years in a row... surely not!"

"They've done an unbelievable job so far and hopefully for the girls that will be going into high school in September, they can have the perfect send off and a story to last a lifetime!"

Best of luck to Heyhouses, bring it home (again)!
