5th September is the International Day of Charity. AFC Fylde Community Foundation (AFCFCF) are a non-profit, charitable organisation. However, it isn't just the incredible team of staff that run this charity, it's down to everyone in Fylde.
The work of the Foundation wouldn't be possible without the people outside of the organisation dedicated to having a positive impact on the community of Fylde.
Our Board of Trustees, Chaired by David Edmundson, voluntarily give up their free time to oversee the duties of the Foundation and ensure AFCFCF are carrying out it's purposes for the benefit of the public.
Each of our eight Trustees provide their own unique skillset to secure the Foundation in all areas.
The Trustees set the example for voluntarily roles for others around the community to make their difference - the Foundation is extremely to have an excellent support system of volunteers.
Darren Thornhill (pictured below), AFCFCF's 2023 Community Captain, is constantly an active member of within the Foundation and continues to offer his support regarding all services.
Harry McNally (pictured right), our 2024 Young Leader of the Year, gives up his Saturday lunch times and Tuesday evenings throughout the season to help the Foundation operate on matchdays. He has also been nominated for Volunteer of the Year at Fylde Sport Awards.
Mohamed Hashim (pictured left), AFCFCF's 2024 Community Captain, has helped with the running of our
Football Welcomes project, transforming it into one of the Foundation's most successful schemes.
That's a very brief selection from many names around Fylde who help contribute to the Foundation - charity truly does start at home.
AFC Fylde's Official Charity are proud to boast a wide range of programmes inclusive to all - through Employability & Skills, Community Engagement and School services.
AFCFCF have 18 members of staff across those three areas - we would like to think you've seen some of them out and about on various different projects - see if you recognise anyone here.
Our staff work tirelessly to improve the lives of Fylde residents, which per our latest Impact Report shows we interacted with over 7,000 people - all we can do is try our best to deliver a high quality service that each of those 7,000 individuals will remember fondly.
Despite our strong connections to football, that is not our only focus. As a separate organisation we have so much more to offer - ranging from Armed Forces support, loneliness prevention, support back into employment, education or training and nursery & primary school support and so much more.
However, none of the above would be possible if it wasn't for our partners. There are too many of our wonderful partners to list individually, but each one supports the Foundation in their own unique way, whether it be promoting the work we do or financially funding a project - because without external funding AFCFCF wouldn't be able to function the way it currently does.
Our Chief Executive Officer, Chris Brannigan, said: "The International Day of Charity is an opportunity for us to reiterate our ambitions and commitments to the local community of whom we serve. In addition to this, it is the perfect time to highlight the importance of people within charities just like ours.
"Whilst our Foundation team are the cornerstone to all of our successful outcomes, it’s pertinent to highlight the importance of our wider group of people. Our Foundation and its charitable aims are driven by our Board of Trustees, all of whom volunteer their time and expertise.
"We also have a pool of volunteers, families, support networks, ambassadors and beneficiaries that enable us to keep serving the community, and delivering on our aim of engaging all members of the Fylde community, enabling them to make a positive difference to their lives and addressing the inequalities that exist across our communities."
