Pupils from Kirkham Grammar School and Medlar with Wesham Primary School received certificates and medals after recently completing their Coasters breakfast and after school clubs with AFC Fylde Community Foundation.
The Foundation provided Kirkham Grammar School with Key Stage One and Key Stage Two breakfast football sessions, whilst Medlar with Wesham children took part in after school activities.
Our sessions supported the development of football across the Fylde borough and provides an introduction into the game for youngsters.
Delivered by FA and UEFA qualified Foundation coaches, the Foundation are committed to developing football skills of children locally through coaching in schools.
And having successfully completed the programme, the pupils achievements were recognised through an on pitch presentation of their own certificates and medals at half-time during AFC Fylde’s recent win over Oldham Athletic at Mill Farm.
The children were given the opportunity to step foot on the hallowed turf of the Coasters’ home ground and met AFC Fylde first-team players Alex Whitmore and Luke Conlan.
Football Development Officer, Connor Williams, said: “The Coasters breakfast and after school club is a new initiative this year, to engage more young people in school to get involved in football with an opportunity to come and watch a home fixture AFC Fylde first team at the end of the six-week block. Children receive a medal and certificate during the half time presentation as well as two free tickets to the game.
“AFC Fylde Community Foundation were proud to bring this project to two of our partner schools, Medlar with Wesham Primary School and Kirkham Grammar School, where over 30 children have participated in weekly football sessions.
“We look forward to continuing this successful project throughout the year.”
