AFC Fylde Community Foundation's Football Development Centre saw a record-breaking 12 months for the second year in a row.
Our Football Development Centre returns this Saturday and is designed for children aged 2-14 years old to build and develop professional football skills under the mentorship of FA and UEFA qualified coaches with several years experience. The Foundation is also proud to offer dedicated Goalkeeping development for children aged 6-16 years old.
Since the summer of 2022, the Foundation is delighted to announce that our Development Centre has grown by an extraordinary 108%.
The Development Centre is made up of 11 sessions that run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and also Saturday mornings throughout the academic year.
Our team of coaches have delivered 495 hours of sessions from September 2023 - July 2023.
326 children attended our Development Centre in that time period, progressing 11 children into football academies - seven of which went into AFC Fylde academy - and 15 into other grassroot teams around Fylde.
The Foundation's coaches devised a programme to 'train like a pro' where the area of development alternates every six weeks.
Our Football and Education Co-ordinator, Connor Williams, said: "The growth of the Development Centre is something I'm extremely proud of, all the coaches work exceptionally hard to ensure a high standard of coaching and it's always great to see when hard work pays off.
"The reward of that hard work is seeing all the children who attend develop their football ability and help them progress further as a footballer, but also as a person.
"Our number one priority is that the children who attend every week have a fantastic time. If they aren't enjoying what they're doing, they won't experience the benefits - which is why we have created a safe and friendly environment for the participants to feel comfortable in being themselves and also make new friends.
"I'd like to thank all the children who attended our Development Centre in the last 12 months but also all the parents and caregivers who bring them down - the sessions wouldn't be possible without the effort from all of you.
"I hope you all had a great summer off, myself and all the coaches at the Foundation look forward to welcoming each of you back for another year, see you soon!"
