The Foundation's 'Our Time' programme is having a positive impact on children in the community

AFC Fylde Community Foundation's 'Our Time' programme is continuing to have a positive impact on children in different schools throughout the Fylde Borough.

The Foundation alternates between different schools to support children between the ages of 10-16. We deliver weekly sessions for a block of six weeks.

Our aim is to provide relief and escapism from any potential issues the children might be experiencing in their home life.

The programme continues to function smoothly as we leave it down to the schools to contact us and recommend students that they believe could potentially benefit from the support we offer.

Our staff attempt to improve the participants' confidence, team work skills and self-esteem.

Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose the schools we partner up with as it is a confidential programme. However, we did receive some positive feedback from our most recent group that we wanted to share.

One of the kids said: "I liked learning about about online safety, friendships and healthy relationships."

Whilst another participant said: "I enjoyed our sessions with AFC Fylde Community Foundation, they were really fun."

The Foundation's Champions project Co-ordinator, Daisy Sheridan, who oversees the 'Our Time' programme, believes: "It's a fantastic chance for young people to discuss topics they might usually struggle with inside a classroom.

"The Foundation's sole intention is to support the children, so it immediately creates a safe and friendly environment for them and gives them the opportunity to drop their guard a little bit and open up."

If you believe some students at your school could benefit from the Foundation's 'Our Time' project when the new academic year starts, please email: daisy.sheridan@afcfylde.co.uk.
